Apologies, Announcements, and a List

Hi Guys!

So, It's been....2 MONTHS, 6 DAYS, AND 10 HOURS since I last posted. That is so not okay for so many reasons.

But the past is in the past, and I'm back with more exciting nerdy nummies. Are you excited? 'Cause I am.

Anywaayy....


1. The first thing is that I promise not to desert you again. I will continue to blog faithfully!

2. Number two is that Shannon Messenger released the cover for her fourth KOTLC book, Neverseen! Yay! (In addition, I apologize for the typo in the 'KOTLC Title Reveal' post, in which I said that it was the cover reveal. It was not.) Check out the suspenseful, tantalizing, and very green cover below!

                            

Awesome, right? Okay..ONWARD.

3. Okay, super excited about this one...

I may or may not have recently mentioned some guest writers who may or may not (okay fine, they will) be showcasing some very awesome book reviews on this very blog. Awesome, right!? So far, one has reported that their super epic pen name will be Booksnake (I feel the need to put that in green font), and the other will be awesomely dubbed Roses are Red (obviously, I feel the need to put this in red font).

4. Look to the right of your screen. You see that handy dandy little gadget labeled 'Reading Now'? Well, it tells you what book I'm reading. I will admit I'm not exceptionally good at keeping it updated, but I will try. Also, you can subscribe by email at the top of this very page.

A book review is coming soon, along with other cool stuff, as always (perhaps even a giveaway. I dunno.).

KOTLC Update and Title Reveal!

Hi guys!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I’m sorta getting back into the groove of blogging after winter break. School always seems harder after a long break J.

Anyway,  if any of you looked into Keeper of the Lost Cities (I’m just gonna call it KOTLC from now on) after my awesome KOTLC post or my KOTLC book review, you will be super excited to know that Shannon Messenger (the author) REVEALED THE TITLE FOR KOTLC #4!!!!!

AAAAAHHH!

I am way excited!

So, the new title is….

NEVERSEEN!

 

         If you haven't read the latest book in the series, Everblaze, this may not make a ton of sense.

        Yet another reason to read it!

BOOK REVIEW: Keeper of the Lost Cities

Hey Guys!

So, as promised, here is the Keeper book review (yay!).

                               

Never fear--this book does not necessarily represent all of the books I'll be doing (I'm thinking about some historical fiction next....), and I'm planning to do lots of different genres.

Okay, so, on from the boring stuff!

 Author: Shannon Messenger

Genre: Fantasy (well...a little bit of everything, really. there's some Sci-Fi and Mystery in there, too.)

Summary: (from Goodreads) Twelve-year-old Sophie Foster has a secret. She’s a Telepath—someone who hears the thoughts of everyone around her. It’s a talent she’s never known how to explain.

Why I Love This Book: Where do I start???

• It starts off with a bang--followed by a fantastic Plotline. The action starts right away. Normally the first few chapters of the first book in the series are boring because the author has to ease into it as they describe the setting, explain the situation, introduce the characters, etc. However, I felt like she did a really good job of doing this in a really interesting way.
• I want the characters to be my best friends. Oh, how I love these characters. Some are laugh out loud funny (yay for Keefe!), some are super smart (go Dex!), some are loyal (yay Sandor!), and some are traitorous (I believe putting someone here would be considered a *ahem* spoiler alert.). Anyway, they mix together so, so well--kinda like Harry, Ron, and Hermione. I really wish they were real :(.
• Seriously--who thinks of this stuff? A completely different world full of elves and other creatures? An academy that rivals Hogwarts (wow, I did not realize all the parallels between Keeper and Harry Potter until now...)? Tons of cool gadgets and foods? You can tell more and more as you read that Shannon really though out every aspect of their world. Details, details.
• The twists and turns keep me guessing. I never know what'll happen next. Ever. 
• It's funny. I will not spoil anything, but I can assure you hat there is plenty of comic relief.
• It's fun to get into. If you make your friend read this book, you can talk about it with them.

Age Range/Reading Level: 5th-8th grade (it may be a fun read-aloud, too!)

Hey! You came back!

If any of you have read Shannon Messenger's super amazing books, Keeper of the Lost Cities, you know that she is a totally incredible author.

Like, incredible.

I really get into her plotline, setting, and most of all: the characters. There are few series that have made me fall head over heels for the characters, and this is one of them. They make me laugh out loud, they keep me guessing, and they make me want to cry. Her plotline is complex and detailed, so I never know what's coming next. Hopefully I'll have time to put up some reviews for these awesome books later in the week. In the meantime.....

So, Shannon Messenger happens to have a blog, which I totally love. She does really cool giveaways (there's another coming up this week!), updates and teasers for upcoming releases, and MMGM links (Marvelous Middle Grade Monday). MMGM is where Shannon posts links to book review blog posts that adults and kids have sent in. It's a fun way to promote blogs and find some fun new books to read, so check it out next time you visit her site.

Also, Shannon recently announced that the 4th book of the Keeper series will be released in 2015. Here are the first three: Keeper of the Lost Cities, Exile, and Everblaze.
